چکیده

We present a new normalization condition for the axial current, which is derived from the PCAC relation with non–vanishing mass. Using this condition reduces the O(r0m) corrections to the axial current normalization constant ZA for an easier chiral extrapolation in the cases, where simulations at zero quark–mass are not possible. The method described here also serves as a preparation for a determination of ZA in the full two–flavor theory. 1. Introduction Due to the explicit breaking of chiral symmetry in a lattice theory with Wilson quarks a finite renormalization constant Z A for the isovector ax-ial current is needed so that Ward identities take their canonical form up to small lattice corrections. Otherwise a safe extrapolation to the continuum can not be achieved for physical quantities involving this current. The function Z A (g 0) [1] currently used by the ALPHA collaboration was obtained by requiring that certain chiral Ward identities are satisfied in the O(a) on–shell improved lattice theory up to O(a 2) cutoff effects. This normalization condition is evaluated at zero quark mass and hence the mass term in the PCAC relation was dropped. However, even in the framework of the Schrödinger functional simulations at vanishing quark mass are not possible if the physical volume , or equivalently the renormalized coupling, is too large. For the large couplings one therefore evaluates the normalization condition at finite quark mass and extrapolates to the chiral point. Since the mass term was ignored in the derivation of the normalization condition this introduces an error of O(r 0 m) in Z A. The Sommer scale r 0 [2] is used as a typical hadronic scale. Here we present a normalization condition for the axial current, which is derived using the full PCAC relation. This reduces the O(r 0 m) errors in Z A to O(am) and therefore results in a much flatter chiral extrapolation.

Non-perturbative renormalization of the static vector current and its O(a)-improvement in quenched QCD LPHA

We carry out the renormalization and the Symanzik O(a)-improvement programme for the static vector current in quenched lattice QCD. The scale independent ratio of the renormalization constants of the static vector and axial currents is obtained non-perturbatively from an axial Ward identity with Wilson-type light quarks and various lattice discretizations of the static action. The improvement c...

Perturbative renormalization parameters for heavy quarks ∗

Formulation of the heavy quark on the lattice, such as NRQCD[1] or the Fermilab approach with the Wilson-like relativistic quarks[2], requires perturbative matching with the continuum theory. Since the quark mass in the lattice unit cannot be neglected for these theories, the perturbative calculation is much more involved and have not developed as that for the massless case. We report the curre...

Restoring chiral symmetry to O(a2) for dynamical Wilson fermions

We present results for the non–perturbative determination of the improvement and renormalization factors of the isovector axial current for lattice QCD with two flavors of dynamical Wilson quarks. The improvement and normalization conditions are formulated in terms of matrix elements of the PCAC relation in the Schrödinger functional setup and results are given in the form of interpolating form...

Non-perturbative renormalization of static-light four-fermion operators in quenched lattice QCD LPHA

We perform a non-perturbative study of the scale-dependent renormalization factors of a multiplicatively renormalizable basis of ∆B = 2 parity-odd four-fermion operators in quenched lattice QCD. Heavy quarks are treated in the static approximation with various lattice discretizations of the static action. Light quarks are described by nonperturbatively O(a) improved Wilson-type fermions. The re...

A perturbative study of two four - quark operators in finite volume renormalization schemes LPHA

Starting from the QCD Schrödinger functional (SF), we define a family of renormalization schemes for two four-quark operators, which are, in the chiral limit, protected against mixing with other operators. With the appropriate flavour assignments these operators can be interpreted as part of either the ∆F = 1 or ∆F = 2 effective weak Hamiltonians. In view of lattice QCD with Wilson-type quarks,...
